I have no idea how to go about reviewing this because it was another late night of being without subtitles that I found myself staring upon it ;___;

Okay, here it goes. I'll try and do this as best as I can!

From various sources, I've discovered this movie is very loosely based upon the nineteenth-century "The Witch" by Jules Michelet. From what I gathered using my very sparse Japanese (and by very sparse, I mean a word or phrase here or there), a young, very simple and everyday sort of woman finds herself being driven to perform satanic practices and ancient superstitions, which leads her to being accused, tortured, and executed for witchcraft. Of course, she's only driven to those means because of the cruel feudal society in which she lives.

Due to the fact that this movie pretty much centers around the entirety of her decline into these darker arts and her eventual torture, there are many sado-erotic themes within Beradona. In fact, this movie feels like borderline ... well, pr0n, what with the way most of the scenes are portrayed. Somehow, though, it stays away from that area, most likely due to the brilliant visuals.

... which leads me into my next point. Man oh man, the art style is positively breathtaking. It's a brilliant mesh of the classic Japanese landscape paintings and the US-western comic style. It's just ... stunning.

Other than that, I didn't feel much for this movie. The music was repetitive and unappealing, and I just couldn't stop noticing how ... wrong it seemed ;A; My rating tries to be unbiased. Tries.
